{blog 5}

Before enrolling in this digital art class, I never realized how prominent internet art actually was.  I did not know that people even considered using the internet as an acceptable medium and I did not consider what it costs to create a work of art or even start a digital art company.  after reading chapter 3, i now realize that the programs for creating art is basically the foundation of internet art.  Internet artists have struggle dot keep their companies even after they had made this medium a popular one.  it surprises me that internet artists found it hard to come by people who were willing to give them grants or other money for their work since there are so many people who are interested in art and want to see it progress in any way.  Internet art seems the most progressive to me since it is the most recent and it makes sense that its audience wants more and more out of the internet art.  People no longer want just the normal web pages but want more complex application and even games like Maciej Wisniewski's Instant Places in 2002.   I think these new programs are what is going to make internet art even more known to people who have no idea that it exists.  even though i am a studio major, i knew very little about internet art and didn't realize what a big business it is turning into.  It is the art that almost defines our generation since other mediums like paint and drawing have been around for a long time.  Even digital art has been around since the 1920's so this form of art is truly revolutionary and will continue to progress and change with time as more people become involved and more money comes into the field.
